Elite, Professional, Personal: Spain Tennis Academy - a very different Tennis Academy in Barcelona, Spain

Why are we different?

First, we only work with a very limited number of serious and dedicated players. Second, we have a staff of coaches and trainers who have actual experience of developing players from the Juniors up to ATP and WTA standard. Third, we are, and will remain, an elite private Academy which is dedicated to our players.

How can we help you?

If you fit the profile of player we are looking for – serious, dedicated, and with a good work ethic – we can help you. Contact us today or browse our site to find out more about us.

Control exercise - part 2

In this second part of the “control” exercise – common in clay-court training – we see Prajnesh Gunneswaran (one of India’s best players) working on his control and fitness.

The objectives of the exercise are as follows:

  1. Control of the direction and trajectory of each stroke
  2. Aerobic conditioning
  3. Use of leg movements to consistently find a good contact position
  4. Forward and backwards movement (optional) for clay-court tennis
  5. Control of the ball for long periods, with an intensity of around 60-70%, depending what we are working on (aerobic or anaerobic conditioning)

These exercises are controlled using a heart-rate monitor, and the length and number of repetitions carefully monitored.

In this video, Prajnesh is on his final repetition and the intensity is higher than normal. As you can see at the end of the exercise, he is quite exhausted!
